Seminar on the Intellectual Property Law in USA Held in Chengdu; Tahota and American and South Korean Lawyers Offering Advice to Enterprises; Mainstream Print Media in Chengdu Covering Competitively

On December 2, 2010, Seminar on the Intellectual Property Law in USA sponsored by Chengdu Intellectual Property Office, undertaken by Gaoxin District Intellectual Property Office and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and co-organized by Tahota Law Firm and Chengdu Economic Daily, was grandly held in Chengdu Gaoxin District. Many domestic and foreign intellectual property experts and nearly 150 from over 70 enterprises attended this seminar.

This seminar was highly emphasized by industry leaders. Jun Xiao (inspector of Sichuan Intellectual Property Office) and Xiaobin Ding (deputy director general of Chengdu Intellectual Property Office) were present for guidance; Xingwei Liu (assistant to director of Chengdu Intellectual Property Office) and Changzhi Sun (head of Intellectual Property Office) served as host of the seminar in person. Leaders including Chang Su (head of Gaoxin District Intellectual Property Office) also attended the seminar. Mainstream print media of Chengdu conducted follow-up reports.  

Members of intellectual property expert team of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP including Robert J. Gaybrick, Yalei Sun and Lijie Liu delivered keynote speeches on intellectual property law in USA on the morning. They shared three topics profoundly, i.e. basis of patent system in USA, handling of lawyer’s letter from counterpart, and legal analysis on patent non-infringement and patent invalidity.

During special seminar held on the afternoon, Lawyer Hong Ni (a senior partner of Tahota), Changwei Wei (general manager of Intellectual Property Center) and senior copyright lawyer Chunhai Huang joined hands with intellectual property experts from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and KBK Franchised Law Firm of South Korea deeply answered foreign-related intellectual property disputes raised by enterprises. The site atmosphere was very warm and enterprises present rose questions in succession to seek for assistance from lawyers of China, USA and South Korea.    

After the seminar, under the witnessing of industry leaders and enterprises guests present, Lawyer Shoutai Cheng (director of Tahota Law Firm) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Robert J. Gaybrick, partner of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.
