From December 1 to 4, 2025, the "Indonesia Focus · 3rd International Forum on Arbitration and Cross-border Investment Practice", hosted by the Asia Pacific International Arbitration Centre (APIAC), was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Centering on the core theme of "Rule Alignment and Practical Innovation", the forum brought together arbitration institution experts, seasoned lawyers, in-house counsel and investors from multiple countries and regions around the world. They engaged in in-depth discussions on international arbitration practice, as well as new investment opportunities and dispute resolution approaches in Indonesia.

Fan Niannian, Partner of Tahota Law Firm, was invited to attend the forum. Leveraging her profound practical experience in cross-border legal services, she helped strengthen the consensus on cross-border legal cooperation on this international platform.

During the forum, Attorney Fan Niannian participated in the discussions on topics including "Trends of Regional Arbitration in Dispute Resolution Mechanisms" and "Compliance Risk Prevention and Control for Chinese-funded Enterprises Going Global", conducting in-depth exchanges with attending arbitration experts, seasoned lawyers, and enterprise representatives.

Attorney Fan opined that as a key node country along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Indonesia’s systematic restructuring of investment rules has brought new opportunities for Chinese-funded enterprises, but it has also raised higher requirements for cross-border legal risk management. She emphasized that enterprises venturing overseas should strengthen legal due diligence in the pre-investment phase and flexibly adopt diversified dispute resolution methods such as international arbitration.

Beyond the official forum agenda, Attorney Fan Niannian was invited to visit the Supreme Court of Indonesia. As the core institution of Indonesia’s judicial system, the Supreme Court is advancing the development of an arbitration-friendly environment through a series of judicial reforms, including restricting judicial intervention in arbitration proceedings and optimizing the enforcement mechanism for international arbitration awards.

Subsequently, Attorney Fan also visited the Indonesia Court Museum, where she immersed herself in the local legal history and cultural heritage, explored the diverse evolution of legal civilization, and built an emotional bridge for cross-cultural legal exchanges.

To further deepen cross-border legal cooperation, Attorney Fan Niannian paid visits to HHP LAW FIRM and IABF LAW FIRM, two top-tier law firms in Indonesia. As leading commercial legal service providers in the country, both firms boast profound expertise in investment and financing, compliance and risk control, dispute resolution and other key areas. Their legal teams combine international perspectives with local experience, offering services that cover a wide range of key sectors including energy, infrastructure and digital economy.

The parties reached a consensus on topics such as hotspots in China-Indonesia cross-border investment and collaborative models for legal practice. They agreed to establish a regular exchange mechanism and carry out in-depth cooperation in case collaboration, regulatory interpretation and client resource sharing in the future. Together, they will provide full-chain legal support for cross-border trade and investment between Chinese and Indonesian enterprises, facilitating the development of a more stable and efficient cross-border legal service ecosystem.

This trip to Jakarta is not only a vivid practice for Tahota lawyers to deeply engage in the development of international rule of law, but also a crucial step in the firm’s international strategic layout. As a leading large-scale comprehensive law firm in China, Tahota has always regarded cross-border legal services as a core development priority, establishing a professional and efficient service system covering cross-border arbitration, international investment, cross-border compliance and other key areas. A number of its lawyers have been appointed as arbitrators at domestic and foreign arbitration institutions, and by virtue of their profound understanding of international rules and rich practical experience, they provide robust legal support for Chinese and foreign clients in cross-border rights protection.

Going forward, Tahota will continue to leverage its global service network, deepen exchanges and cooperation with the legal communities of countries along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), empower enterprises in their "Going Global" endeavors with professional legal services, and contribute legal expertise to advancing the liberalization and facilitation of cross-border investment as well as building a community with a shared future for mankind.
