Tahota’s Cases Elected as Typical Cases of the Belt and Road Legal Service
On September 8, 2024, as one activity of the Fourth Forum of Maritime Silk Road Central Legal District, the 2024 Results Release Session of the Typical Cases of the Belt and Road Legal Service was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province as hosted by the Belt and Road Law Research Center of China University of Political Science and Law under the support of Legal Daily and legaldaily.com. Shen Sibao, President of the Society of International Economic Law, China Law Society, Xu Hua, Deputy Secretary of Political and Legal Committee of Fujian Provincial Committee, Sun Zhiyong, Party Secretary and President of Legal Daily and Zhou Bingjian, Head of the Overall Law-based Governance Research Center attended the event. Lawyer Lin Xiao, a partner of Tahota, was invited to attend this grand event.

Recently, the Berkeley Center for Law&Technology (BCLT) at the University of California Berkeley Law School, hosted an online intellectual property roundtable event on the “Draft Amendment to the Trademark Law of the People Republic of China”, the event was moderated by Mr. Mark A. Cohen, a Senior Fellow at BCLT's Asia IP Project, former counsel at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and Intellectual Property Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in China. Mr. Charles Feng, Senior Partner and Attorney at Law, Director of International Business Department at Tahota, Beijing was invited to attend and gave a special speech on the latest modifications of this Draft Amendment and his proposals.

According to the NPC Standing Committee’s Decision on Authorising the State Council for the implementation of Pilot Measures for Hong Kong and Macao Legal Practitioners to Obtain Mainland Practicing Qualifications and Practice Legal Business in Nine Pearl River Delta Cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Circular of the General Office of the State Council on Printing and Issuing the Pilot Measures for Hong Kong Legal Practitioners and Macao Practicing Lawyers to Obtain Mainland Practicing Qualifications and Practice Legal Business in Nine Mainland Cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, (GBF No.37[2020]), the Ministry of Justice decided to initiate the service of lawyer licenses (of the Greater Bay Area) since June 28th, 2022. A few days ago, lawyer Ho Lok Cheong, lawyer Shum Hon Wo and lawyer Cheung Yip Wah have joined Tahota after they were approved to practice legal business in the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

At noon on May 17, 2021, an exchange seminar themed “The Operation of Hong Kong International Arbitration Center and Its Rules and Features” was held in Tahota Chengdu Office. Dr. Yang Ling, Deputy Secretary-General of Hong Kong International Arbitration Center (HKIAC) and Chief Representative of Shanghai Representative Office, was invited to the seminar. Hosted by our partner/lawyer Zhou Yarui, the exchange seminar had many special guests present, including Ms. Zhuang Wenmin, the Board Secretary and General Counsel of Honghua Group, Director/Lawyer Yang Jianhong of Tahota Hong Kong Office and Lawyer Ma Chunyan, the person in charge of the International Business Department of Tahota.
