Dr. Jia Yuan obtained his Doctoral and Postdoctoral degrees respectively from Universität Bonn, Germany and University of International Business and Economics, China. Now, he is working as Senior Partner and the deputy director of international department in TAHOTA Law Firm. Also, he was the member of “Chinese Leading International Legal Professionals” and “One Belt One Road Cross-border Lawyers”. Before joining to TAHOTA, he was working for leading international companies and law firms in Cologne and Beijing (Linklaters, Taylor Wessing, King&Wood Mallesons and HUAWEI). Dr. Jia Yuan is proficient in using Chinese, English and German to provide comprehensive business legal services to clients.

Dr. Jia Yuan specialised in International Investment and Trade, IPR and competition law, PE/VC areas. He provided comprehensive commercial legal services to renowned large and medium-sized enterprises both inbound and outbound, such as DECATHLON, Yanlord Land, Capitaland, SUNING, CRRC, Sichuan Airlines, Wuliangye and West Hope. He also provided legal services to PE/VC funds such as China Aerospace Science & Industry Corp, Wei Feng Chuang Tou, Bauhinia Valley, Geunion and Born Capital. Dr. Jia Yuan also pays special attention to the provision of legal services for High-Tec companies covering the design of equity and corporate governance, financing, and intellectual property protection, which can cover the whole life cycle of technology companies. Based on his understanding of investors and entrepreneurs, Dr. Jia Yuan has also served as an innovative entrepreneurship mentor for many incubators and entrepreneurship spaces, such as UESTCPARK, Tencent WeStart, Tencent AI Accelerator, Zhongguancun Chengchuang Center and Chuangke Street, to provide training and guidance for these companies.

In 2016, the book “Lawyer of Foreign Affairs in Action: The Belt and Road Legal Practice Special Edition”，in which Dr. Yuan participated, was published. Dr. Yuan Jia also serves as the Excecutive Director of the Center for Innovation and Competition Law at the Law School of Sichuan University and a Senior Researcher at the Center for Competition Law of the University of International Business and Economics. He provided policy researches related to anti-monopoly, anti-unfair competition, intellectual property rights and market supervision, for the National Development and Reform Commission, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration of Markets, the State Intellectual Property Office, Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Sichuan Science and Technology Department, Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, Sichuan Provincial Intellectual Property Office, Sichuan Industrial and Commercial Bureau, Luzhou Science and Technology and Intellectual Property Office and other units, and he published academic thesis in many core journals, and a number of Chinese and German monographs.
