On August 5th, 2024, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Representative Office in Indonesia, in collaboration with HLB International, held a forum in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. The event was themed “Exploring Indonesia: Business Opportunities and Compliance Requirements for Chinese Companies.” Gan Jianming, Senior Partner of Tahota Law Firm and Partner of Tahota Bangkok Office, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech as a guest speaker.

It also sought to uncover business opportunities in Indonesia and discuss the challenges and opportunities for sustainable development in Southeast Asia and globally.
As the keynote speaker, Gan Jianming delivered a main speech titled “Legal Compliance for Chinese Enterprises in Cross-border Operations” at the forum. Drawing on his extensive experience in cross-border investments and mergers, he approached the topic from the perspective of Chinese investors. He discussed the characteristics of different participants in cross-border investments, including Chinese state-owned enterprises, large private companies, and small and medium-sized enterprises,as well as key compliance issues and solutions for Chinese companies operating abroad. This showcased our firm’s commitment to supporting the “Belt and Road” initiative and establishing overseas branches to provide cross-border legal services. In the concluding discussion, Gan also addressed taxation and legal requirements for doing business in Indonesia in the concluding discussion.
