On April 19, 2024, ALB TAHOTA Belt and Road International Commercial Legal Summit 2024 was successfully held at Renaissance Xi’an Hotel. The forum was hosted by the Xi’an Municipal Bureau of Justice and co-organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Xi’an Municipal People’s Government, Yanta District Bureau of Justice, and the Xi’an Lawyer’s Association. It was undertaken by Tahota (Xi’an) Law Firm and Asian Legal Business (ALB).

The active participation of the local legal and business community in the forum brought together over two hundred senior corporate legal advisors, senior executives, and legal professionals. Nearly ten keynote speakers and panelists focused on the latest issues in international business law, and discussed the opportunities and challenges facing businesses in Shaanxi Province as they explore innovation and development under the “Belt and Road” Initiative. The participants concentrated on the interrelationship between commerce and law and engaged in comprehensive sharing and animated discussions.

The forum commenced at 2:00 PM. Su Guofeng, Director of the Xi’an Municipal Bureau of Justice, and Qi Zhang’an, Vice President of the Xi’an Lawyer’s Association, delivered speeches on-site. Ms. Xie Jingting, Senior Director of Thomson Reuters, delivered a speech to the guests via video. They all welcomed the attendance of all guests and professionals.

Following the inaugural remarks, the forum proceeded to welcome its inaugural keynote speaker, Ms. Yang Fan, Director of the Intellectual Property Dispute Resolution Department and Secretary-General of the Hubei Sub-Commission of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission. She delivered a keynote speech themed Building an International Arbitration Ecosystem and Creating a New Vision for the “Belt and Road” Initiative Together. Following her, Lawyer Feng Chao, a partner of Tahota Law Firm, took the stage and delivered a keynote speech titled Several Issues on Application of Law in Cutting-edge Unfair Competition Cases. Subsequently, Lawyer Du Kun, a member of Tahota Law Firm and a lecturer of the School of Economic Law at the Northwest University of Political Science and Law, was invited to deliver a keynote address on the subject of Challenges and Responses of Antitrust Law in the Digital Era.

Following the intermission, Ms. SAULE KOSHANOVA, Ph.D. of Peking University and Director of the New Eurasian Land-Sea Intermodal Transport Corridor Institute, delivered a compelling address entitled Cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in Transportation and Logistics under the “Belt and Road” Initiative-Taking Kazakhstan’s Logistics Base in Lianyungang as an Example. Subsequently, the forum welcomed Ms. Ushurova Sofiya, a foreign professor from the School of Law at Xi’an Jiaotong University. Her presentation was entitled Investing in Central Asia: One Region with Infinite Opportunities.

The forum then proceeded to a heavyweight part: panel discussion. The panel discussion was moderated by Professor Wang Han from Northwest University of Political Science and Law. It featured insightful discussions with Mr. Xu Wenxin, Deputy Director of the Xi’an Arbitration Commission, Mr. Han Lei, Head of Legal and Audit Supervision of Vanke Group in Northwest China, and Lawyer Wei Tingting from Tahota Law Firm.

At the end of the event, Lawyer Yao Ziqi, Director of the Xi’an Office of Tahota Law Firm, delivered the concluding remarks.

ALB TAHOTA Belt and Road International Commercial Legal Summit 2024 ended successfully with enthusiastic applause from the participants.
