On July 26, 2025, the CBLJ Summit Forum · Beijing 2025, hosted by China Business Law Journal (CBLJ), was successfully held. As one of the co-organizers, TAHOTA Law Firm joined numerous distinguished guests including senior executives of listed companies, corporate legal directors, senior partners from renowned Chinese and foreign law firms, and academics to attend this grand event. Together, we have built a high-end dialogue platform for the development of commercial rule of law, helping enterprises keep abreast of legal trends, move forward steadily, and promoting the in-depth integration and development of the commercial and legal sectors.

In the roundtable forum of the parallel session themed "Analysis of Hot Topics and Opportunities in the Financial Industry from the Perspective of Regulation and Judicial Judgment" at this summit, Lawyers Jiang Qiang and Tian Qi from our firm conducted thematic exchanges and sharing with Ms. Wang Junying, Partner of Juming Venture Capital; Ms. Chen Shu, Head of the Legal Department of BNP Paribas Agricultural Bank Wealth Management Co., Ltd.; and Ms. Xiang Yaqi, General Manager of Legal and Compliance for Trust Private Equity at Ping An Trust Co., Ltd. They conducted in-depth discussions on important topics such as the challenges faced by financial institutions under the latest industry background, non-performing asset disposal, cutting-edge perspectives on criminal-civil cross judicial judgments, as well as regulatory and judicial opinions and practices.

This roundtable discussion was hosted by Lawyer Tian Qi from our firm. During the session, Lawyer Tian directly addressed key industry pain points and raised a number of questions closely related to industry development. For instance: What impacts will financial institutions face in their future business operations following the implementation of the new unified suitability regulations? How should suitability supervision be understood in the context of private equity investment? How to handle non-performing assets arising from the impacts of the previous wave of economic activities... Lawyer Tian’s questions closely focused on the practical gaps between regulatory requirements, transaction structures, and judicial judgments, guiding the guests to conduct in-depth discussions on the real issues confronting the industry.

In his speech, Lawyer Jiang Qiang conducted an in-depth analysis of the challenges posed to financial institutions by legal updates, changes in regulatory norms, and economic downturn. Drawing on nearly 200 investor claim cases he has handled, Lawyer Jiang summarized three core requirements that financial institutions must meet in terms of suitability obligations: first, understand product risks and establish a traceable product risk assessment system; second, know their clients and verify key investor information such as assets and income within the scope permitted by law and technology; third, online sales systems should set reasonable procedures to fulfill suitability obligations. Regarding non-performing asset disposal, Lawyer Jiang pointed out that financial institutions need to attach importance to the sufficiency and specificity of risk disclosure. In the discussion on criminal-civil cross cases, based on the Minutes of the National Courts' Civil and Commercial Trial Work Conference (the "Nine Civil Minutes"), Lawyer Jiang analyzed the transformation of judicial practice and shared insights on how financial institutions can balance legal liabilities when facing criminal-civil cross issues. These views resonated with the legal directors of participating financial institutions.

The summit gathered over 500 senior executives and legal elites from more than 300 Chinese and foreign enterprises, featuring over 80 industry leaders delivering speeches on 13 hot topics. The live stream attracted more than 260,000 views online, fully demonstrating China Business Law Journal’s (CBLJ) extensive influence in the industry. Moving forward, TAHOTA Law Firm will continue to strengthen extensive cooperation with leading legal media such as CBLJ, consistently output forward-looking and practical legal insights, and contribute professional expertise to the steady development of China’s financial and legal market.
